Dental Implant Restorations

What are dental implants?
A dental implant is an artificial root structure (commonly made of titanium) that is placed into the same position as the original root. A natural looking tooth, or implant restoration, is then attached to the implant in order to replace the gap and give you a healthy and natural looking smile.

Implant restorations consist of custom-made crowns or bridges that are securely connected to implants. An implant restoration takes the place of a missing tooth and is much less damaging to the surrounding healthy teeth. Implant restorations are also much easier to maintain with regular brushing and flossing habits.

Who can receive dental implants?
Anyone with a dental implant is an eligible candidate for an implant restoration. We design restorations that match the natural look and texture of your teeth and are virtually unnoticeable.

How does the process work?
Once you've received your dental implant, Dr. Bergman will determine the precise dimensions of your missing tooth. Your restoration will then be created to properly fit within your implant  and can generally be placed in just one office visit. People who have weaker bone strength in the jaw may be required to wait anywhere from a few weeks to a few months in order to let the bone solidify around the root implant, which can make our restorations longer-lasting and more successful.

Recovery and Care
Dr. Bergman takes every precaution to make sure your procedure is as smooth and painless as possible. Most patients will only experience minor discomfort and swelling which are treated with common over-the-counter medications. Dental implant restorations require the same routine brushing and flossing as your other teeth along with regular dental visits.
